In 2023, Lafayette will be celebrating the anniversary of its founding. Some of the history of our town/area will be featured on seven metal utility boxes in the downtown area. Scanning the QR code on the utility boxes will take you to the page which provides information about the photos on that box. Or you can directly visit the individual pages for each box by following the links below.
The Bay Miwok/Saklan People inhabited the land where our city sits today for thousands of years.
On February 7, 1847, Elam Brown and his wife Margaret, who had purchased the land grant Rancho Acalanes (3300 acres of land), first arrived to view their purchase.
