Recently, we’ve had several questions concerning the location of the plaque for Elam Brown’s first house. The plaque, pictured above, is located between Deer Trail and Upper Happy Valley Rd on Happy Valley Rd. There is a little area you can pull over to look at the plaque.

Hi Shane Allen. I’m researching the Brown’s 500 acre parcel (.78125 sq mi), so I ask if you have any references to any artifacts like plat maps, surveys, records of where this parcel was? My particular interest is “500 acres of prime redwood land went to Elam Brown of Lafayette in 1853.”
