Americans were stunned by the attack on Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941; but why were our national leaders so shocked despite the fact that they received so many clues that indicated that an attack could occur at any time?
Wayne Korsinen taught the lessons of Pearl Harbor at Antioch High School for more than 30 years. He has been an honorary member of Pearl Harbor Survivors Association for 22 years and for many years has been the chairman of the Pearl Harbor Day ceremony atop Mt. Diablo each December 7.
Mr. Korsinen’s dramatization will explain why our leaders were caught off guard by the attack and will emphasize the Survivors’ motto: “Keep America Alert”.
Survivor Chuck Kohler knows all aspects of the attack first hand. Over the past few years, he has spoken at schools and to groups about his experiences that tragic day.
Mr. Kohler will talk about what he experienced that morning at Pearl Harbor. He will also address the need for constant vigilance and the importance of respecting the role of today’s military.
