In the 1973 Aklan…
we do not find an entry for the 1972-1973 Acalanes Radio Club.
We do find an entry for the Acalanes TV show in the yearbook.
Reporting the activities at school, the Acalanes Review was a new and well-received activity this year. After establishing a studio in Moraga during October, a representative of Channel 6 contacted the school in search of students interested in planning a television program. A group of enthusiastic students met with the volunteer advisors, Mr. Mayes and Mr. Mehus, and began to construct the format of the show. Doug Kari served as newscaster, reporting the events at school, while Pat Young gave the sports news. Duncan Lively and Chris Vogt handled most of the technical and programming work. The staff succeeded in providing variety in the half-hour programs with many interviews, amateur films and specials. The specials were comprised of music department performances, panel discussions and a show concerning self-defense. The broadcasts were viewed at 7:00 Tuesday evenings after being taped the afternoon before. The staff brought televisions into the library during lunch so that students who had missed the show at home could watch it on videotape.
This is the year that the Acalanes TV Show called the Acalanes Review started, but there’s no mention of the Electronics Club in the yearbook.
However, we do find them in the Winter 1972-1973 amateur radio call book.
The entry states the following:
B Acalanes Radio Club, 1200 Pleasant Hill Rd, Lafayette 94549
The “B” indicates a club license.
That’s all the information on this part that we have at the moment. As with all these posts, please feel free to share any information you might have.
