Lafayette History Rabbit Holes – Acalanes Radio Station KCEQ: Del Valle 1977-1978 Radio Club

In 1978, Del Valle chose to call their yearbook the Vivlio.

You can see the new name on the inside cover as well.

This year we still find the FM/Radio Club.

To one day get an FM station at Del Valle was the goal of the FM Club. However, this was a long range project.

Four more school years will pass before they secure their FCC license, deal with the closure of Del Valle, and get through delays in construction of the station to go on the air during the Fall of 1982. It wasn’t that far off–especially considering they get their FCC license in 1979.

The members in the photo are as follows:

Craig Butts
Philip Souza
Bill Schmidt
Ron Mickaels
Jay R. Shindell
Kirk Weir
Kevin Ridout
Derek Douglas
David Crane
Darrell Haydon
Jonathan Hymer

We find the Del Valle amateur radio station in the Winter 1977-1978 amateur radio call book.

That’s all the information on this part that we have at the moment. As with all these posts, please feel free to share any information you might have.
