Lafayette History Rabbit Holes – Acalanes Radio Station KCEQ: Miramonte 1969-1970 Electronics Club

August 5, 2022 1 Comment

In the 1970s yearbooks in the Acalanes Union High School District got creative. So far, this is the most unusual yearbook we’ve come across. Unless we’re misunderstanding this, in 1970 Miramonte released their yearbook in two volumes. We only have access to the “People”, or Volume II book.

This means that even though the index shows an Electronics Club is on page 107, there is no page 107 to look at.

We still have the senior section, though. There are some seniors who are listed as having been in the Electronics Club during their senior year.

Miramonte still had an amateur radio station according to the Summer 1969, Fall 1969, and Spring 1970 amateur radio call books.

Summer 1969:

The entry states the following:

Fall 1969:

The entry states the following:

Spring 1970:

The entry states the following:

B Miramonte H S Elec Club, 750 Moraga Way, Orinda 94563

The “B” in the entries indicates a club license.

If we’re able to get our hands on Volume I of the 1970 Mirada, then we’ll update this post accordingly.

That’s all the information on this part that we have at the moment. As with all these posts, please feel free to share any information you might have.

I taught Electronics, Woodworking, and Automechanics at Miramonte, 1969-19773. Oh, my, those were talented and motivated “kids!”
