In the 1971 Mirada…
we find that there was an Electronics Club during the 1970-1971 school year.
Every other week, fifteen interested boys meet in X-1 to learn more about electronics and work on projects such as ham radios, laser beams, and computers. They have also visited many electronics firms in the Bay Area. As a fund raising activity they have conducted (!) a printed circuit board sale.
Club officers:
President: Dave Dewey
Vice President: Dave Hansen
Secretary: Paul Rasmussen
Treasurer: Ken Young
It doesn’t say definitively, but it appears that Mr. Robert Wieking has taken over being the advisor for the Electronics Club from Mr. F. R. Davis. Davis is still at the school, but it appears he has passed the torch to Wieking.
Mr. Robert Wieking, left, has a great many hobbies, including fishing, backpacking, and antique furniture refinishing. He also operates a ham radio. He’s a great motorcycle enthusiast, which ties in with his love of camping–he’s taken fishing trips to the mountains aboard his bike. In addition, he’s a nut on electronics. Just recently, Mr. Wieking became a father. He and his wife and new son live in Lafayette.
That’s all the information on this part that we have at the moment. As with all these posts, please feel free to share any information you might have.

Those were the years! I had the privilege of working with some of the most talented and motivated students that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Know that my life has been greatly enriched by the four years that I taught at Miramonte High School.

Hi, Bob! I was literally about to respond to your previous comment when this one came in. I’ve only spoken with one other teacher who was involved in this whole story I’ve been cobbling together, and he had similar glowing remarks to make about the students they worked with over the years.
Would it be at all possible to ask you a few questions?

Hello!
Miramonte was my first teaching location. I do not think that any group of students with which I have worked would match up with those energetic and talented Miramonte students with whom I had the honor of teaching. “They had The Moxie!” Bob Wieking/Ellensburg WA
