The Lafayette Reservoir, whether one goes there often or rarely, is in the communal mind of Lafayette…right now, more so, with the controversy over the height of the tower. The display by the Lafayette Historical Society on the side of Whole Foods across from Blue Gingko, follows the saga of East Bay Mud, the organization that began planning the reservoir in 1927.
The display is also about the private water companies that preceded EBMUD and the problems they had delivering clear, reliable water.
Stop by and enjoy the pictures and stories.

When we were kids in the late 50’s and early 60’s, we use to sneak in to the reservoir to go fishing… it wasn’t opened to the public so the park rangers would run us off if they caught you… we never really caught much but it sure was fun growing up in Lafayette back then and doing something you weren’t suppose to do…. Most of us back then would fish in there.
Jim Morrison says
Mid sixties, yep, gone fishin! We’d come in on the side of the lake away from where the ranger parked.
