The two Gloria Duffy’s, mother and daughter, were interviewed by Robin Fox on August 1st, 2009.
Both interviewees said that libraries were very important to them as they grew up. Each of them found that from an early age libraries had helped them to learn about the world and prepare them for world travel later in life. Dr. Duffy said that the project to build a new library in Lafayette was an opportunity to bring libraries into the next generation. The Commonwealth Club, of which she was president, became an early member of the Glenn Seaborg Learning Consortium so library users could learn about public affairs and public service. Gloria Duffy Sr. said “This new library will be wonderful, and it can be passed on from generation to generation.”
